Thank you for being with us today!

How did you get your start in music? Who were some of your inspirations?

I started seriously pursuing music the summer before high school. Eighth grade I went through some very difficult and traumatic stuff and song writing was an incredibly healing outlet I found to express myself during that time. I performed locally some of my originals, started to gain confidence, and that summer I had the opportunity to record my first EP. Carole King is my biggest inspiration as a female songwriter and performer, she paved the way for so many women in the industry today. Since I was young I have looked up to her story-telling and authenticity in her music and performance.

We checked out "Until I Can't" and really like the song - can you tell us more about the writing and recording process for this song?

Yes, thank you for listening to the song! This single is the first out of an EP I am releasing based on the five stages of grief after a breakup. “Until I Can't” is supposed to be representative of the first stage denial. I had this unique idea when I was trying to process my own grief to try to encapsulate these different emotions into five songs. I wrote “Until I Can't” in my bedroom, the song came to me very quickly, and I had the gist of the song done within an hour or so. That is often the process with a lot of my songwriting, I'm very spontaneous and find I write the best when I am emotional. I figured out the details later in the studio. My primary producer Jeff Gruber has been instrumental in creating arrangements that help bring my songs to life, and I am so grateful that he found me.

What can you tell us about your next single, "Did Your Grave"?

“Dig Your Grave” is supposed to capture the third stage of grief and anger. It was the last song I recorded for the EP and most definitely the most fun experience. It’s a badass song, full of unapologetic rage and almost the complete opposite of “Until I Can't”. I am so pumped for people to hear it. It will be releasing some time in May but I haven’t been able to confirm a release date yet.

In what ways is the music you create evolving?

Lately I have been incorporating jazz and blues influence into my songs, I grew up singing a lot of that music, and experimenting with that has been exciting. In general I feel as if my storytelling as an artist is becoming a bit more concrete. My last album was called Beauty in Chaos, each song was really an individual story, reflective of my experiences at the time which were chaotic, full of both beauty and pain. With this EP the story is cohesive and that is purposeful. I have also started writing and recording my next project that I feel the same about.

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

That is really hard, I’m not totally sure. But I would say it is such a privilege to be able to create music and have people that want to listen and engage. I am just so grateful for the support and all my music truly comes from my heart and if any of it touches you in anyway that's beyond humbling and yeah I am just so deeply thankful
