Walter Bennett - Remind Me Tmmrw - Book One

Walter Bennett is an R&B and Soul artist. New to the scene, Bennett aims to share his music with anyone who wants to listen with the goal to make people feel or think something as well as help others through tough times. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on Walter Bennett’s debut album, Remind Me Tmmrw - Book One!

Remind Me Tmmrw - Book One begins with “The Bar” which serves as a great introduction to his signature R&B style. You can tell this track was written based off of genuine experiences and I think the lyrics are quite relatable. Up next is the aptly titled “Fall in Lust” which again seems based on experience. Bennett shares raw emotion in this song which makes it quite special. “Back n Forth” is the third track from the album and it stands as one of the strongest from this release. I felt like Bennett’s vocals and lyrics were perfectly in sync with the backing instrumental, really showcasing this artist at his best. “Hard2Luv/Bad4U” follows with some powerful vibes. Some more awesome interplay is featured within this song with the bass in the instrumental pairing extremely well in a melodic sense with Bennett’s vocals.

The fifth song from Remind Me Tmmrw - Book One is “It’s Cold Out” and this song quite literally gave me chills, befitting its title. Raw in both approach and execution, this song will definitely achieve Bennett’s goal of making you think and feel something - it is powerful. “Silent Karma” is the penultimate song from the album, continuing the powerful, deep-cutting vibes from the previous song. Truly, I feel like this one reaches deeper depths than any other song on the album lyrically and I found myself coming back to it the most of any song from the album. “Leave Behind” closes out the album and is its longest song at six minutes and thirty-one seconds. It provides a meaningful and well-articulated closing to what is truly a meaningful and memorable album.

Walter Bennett has a soft but raw approach to his vocals that gives a notable personality to his lyrics and slight bit of edge to his sound, overall positioning him uniquely in the R&B/Soul spectrum. I enjoy and deeply respect how personal the lyrics that he shares are as well and Bennett truly seems unafraid to put his true emotions out there for us to experience. This album is a great debut and I think it will help carve out a footprint from which Bennett can grow from as he releases more music - which I will be excited to hear.
