Trilogy F - Oak City: Studio B Sessions

Trilogy F is a Rap music artist from the south side of Durham, North Carolina. Known for his lyricism and flow, this artist takes a diverse approach to his naturally infectious music. Today we are excited to share our thoughts on Trilogy F’s newly released album, Oak City: Studio B Sessions!

Oak City: Studio B Sessions begins with “Oochie Baby”, a heartfelt song with a sweet groove. Lyrically, this song comes from a personal place and Trilogy F shares his genuine emotions in a way that hits home. “Don’t Switch On Me” follows and the flow in this track is absolutely exceptional. I really enjoy how quick-hitting this song is and its melodic constructs are very strong. Up next is “Bugatti Umbrella” which has some grand production fused with some more quick-hitting fun. Trilogy F’s unique lyricism is on full display in this track, making it one that will stick with you. Fourth is the entertainingly named “J Møney Dripaholik” which has a kind of depth that reminded me a bit of Juice WRLD but an overall finish that could only be attributed to Trilogy F. This song is named after Trilogy’s nephew - J Money being one of his nicknames - and he was the one to show Trilogy the type of beat used in this song, challenging him to utilize this style in a song - something Trilogy accomplishes here to great success.

The fifth song from Oak City: Studio B Sessions is the self-minded “I’m Too Official”. Somewhat tongue-in-cheek but also reflective in nature, this song takes you on a journey through Trilogy F’s personal experiences. From the opening moments of “Know How To Fly”, it is easy to tell this is a special song. The piano and bass backing instrumental really sets the stage for Trilogy F and TD to really shine; I feel like this is a very strong song and would be a strong promotional single choice to market this album and considering its music video, it seems Trilogy F agrees. “Pullin The Plug” reminds me of some of my favorite Rap songs from across the last twenty years; vibe-wise, it feels like mid to late 00’s hits while the flow and lyrics are more contemporary, giving this track a lot of appeal. “Krushed” is next and despite being the second shortest song from the album, it packs a very strong three-pronged punch across its backing track, flow and lyrics.

“Prøgress” is the ninth song from the album and it has some of the best rhymes from the entire project. I feel like Trilogy F decided to go especially all-out in this song and it really brings the heat while serving as one of the album’s brightest highlights. “Lay Her Down” follows with some hot vibes and the lyrics here are fun and a bit raunchy. Moments like this on the album help to show the depth of Trilogy F’s creativity and I really enjoy this song for that reason. The longest song from the album, “My Love”, is eleventh and from top to bottom, it is a powerhouse of a song. This track really is a masterclass in production and atmosphere-setting. “Twelve Lookin For Me” is, fittingly, track twelve from the album. This one is probably my favorite song from the album with its quick-hitting flow hitting perfect melodic strokes while the lyrics have some genuine feelings of angst while simultaneously still being fun.

Number thirteen is the incredible “NFT Collectible”. This song is at times slightly unhinged, at others unserious, and overall just a lot of fun to listen to - especially when it comes to its catchy hook. “Banking On Me” is the penultimate song from Oak City: Studio B Sessions, featuring ToxxicSlimeto. Trilogy and Toxxic come together in an incredible way and this song is one that is an absolute can’t-miss from the album. Closing out the album is “For The Love Of The Money”, a song with some meta topics that make it feel like a summation of the album as a whole and a vibe that is surprisingly chill despite the lyrical content.

In the end, Oak City: Studio B Sessions is a phenomenal display of skill from Trilogy F. His lyricism is on full display throughout the album, with his words ranging from meaningfully personal to just plain fun throughout while his skillful flow really helps drive the point home across each song. The vibes set up in this album are quite diverse and there is a lot to unpack through multiple listens - an attribute I think will help this album spread in popularity.
