FaB - Persuasion

Fitzsimon and Brogan, known as FaB for short, is a songwriting duo comprised of Neil Fitzsimon and Bee Brogan. Fitzsimon writes all of the songs and plays guitar on them while Brogan handles vocals, keyboards, drums and engineering. The two are also formerly of the band Pretty Blue Gun. Our subject today is FaB’s single, “Persuasion”, from This Wicked Pantomime.

“Persuasion” is a fun track with a certain aspect of nostalgia to it. This song features some 80’s/90’s alt-rock vibes (think Pixies and R.E.M.) and I can hear many elements from more classic rock sources mixed in as well. In terms of instrumentation, Fitzsimon’s arrangements and the duo’s performance here is absolutely on point, creating intricate and tasteful textures that give “Persuasion” some excellent flavor. Through the track’s overall vibe, there is a certain feeling of familiarity that FaB are able to capture and I believe that this makes the track even more accessible than for just fans of oldschool alt-rock.

FaB really bring a lot of skill to their craft and “Persuasion” is an excellent example of what you will get from their latest album This Wicked Pantomime. This track and the album as a whole are easily enjoyable and are pure earcandy for anyone who likes oldschool alt-rock, and even then, I believe this duo has an even broader appeal than just for fans of that type of music, utilizing certain pop sensibility and production choices that make their music accessible. Check out “Persuasion” below!
